Byzantine lead seal of Basileios officer
(11th cent.)
Obverse: Saint Basileios (the Great) standing, facial, nimbate, wearing prelate's garments, blessing by his right and holding the book of Gospels in his left, sigla, Ο/Α/ΓΙ/Ο(C)-[R]ΑCΙΛ[ΕΙΟ]C (Saint Basileios), dotted border.
Reverse: Inscription in 5 lines (first missing), [ΟΜΩ]/[ΝΥΜΟΥΝ]/[Τ]ΙΤΗΝ ΧΑ/ΡΙΝΔΙΔΟΥ/ΠΕΡ = Ὁμωνυμοῦντι τὴν χάριν δίδου πάτερ (Oh father [saint Basileios], deliver the holy Grace to me that I bear your name), dotted border.
Note: The inscription on reverse consists a twelve-syllable iambic verse. The present seal is a parallel from the same boulloterion with the previous lot No. 649.
