ITALY. Bruttium. The Brettii. AR Drachm (5.05 gms), ca. 216-214 B.C. NGC Ch EF, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 4/5. Light Scratches.
HGC-1, 1356; HN Italy-1961. Second Punic War issue. Obverse: Diademed and draped bust of Nike right; cornucopia to left; Reverse: River god standing facing, crowning himself with wreath and holding scepter; to right, serpent above Σ. Quite well centered and attractively toned, this charming exemplar yields a high degree of eye appeal, with the noted scratches being rather minor and inconsequential.
