A. SAWYER in a serrated box punch on an 1802 Draped Bust large cent. Brunk S-149, Rulau-Unlisted. Host coin Very Good. Plus, a circa 1820s coin silver spoon.
Amos Sawyer (1775-1851) was an early silversmith, jeweler and watchmaker working from 1795 until his death in 1851 in Salem, MA. This example is one of the two reported in Brunk, both large cents. Included in this lot is a spoon made by Amos in the 1820s that utilizes the same stamp found on the coin.
