Description

George III (1760-1820), copper Halfpenny, 1799, SOHO mint, laureate and draped bust right, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, GEORGIUS III DEI GRATIA REX, rev. Britannia seated left on rock with trident and shield, holding olive branch, ship sailing right at left, five incuse gunports, SOHO raised on rock below, BRITANNIA above round, date below, edge plain, 12.60g (Peck 1248; S.3778). Attractive tone over silky lustre, graded by NGC as MS64 Red Brown.

NGC Certification 3722240-007

The Latin legend translates as “George the Third by the Grace of God, King,” and on the reverse as “Britannia.”
