AN EXTREMELY FINE ROMAN SILVER HANDLE FROM A CUP
Circa 1st century AD.
A decorated Roman silver handle of the highest quality, originally attached to a shallow cup. Finely articulated, with an intricate floral decoration on the top. The two horizontal terminals that would 'embrace' the mouth of the cup are shaped in the form of swan heads with long pointed beaks. A few modern scratches where the handle was soldered onto the cup.
