Description

The Carthaginians in Sicily and North Africa.
Tetradrachm, Entella circa 350-340, AR 17.26 g. Head of Tanit (Kore-Persephone) l., wearing barley- wreath, earrings and necklace; around, four dolphins. Rev. Horse standing r. in front of palm tree with two clusters of dates; in l. field, crescent. SNG Lloyd 1617 (this obverse die). Jenkins, Punic Sicily III –, cf. 114 (unlisted reverse die).
A lovely portrait of fine style struck in high relief on an exceptionally
fresh metal. Extremely fine / good extremely fine

From a Swiss private collection and notarised in Switzerland on the 1st of October 2003.
