Group of 4 awarded to Colour-Sergeant John Reilly, 104th Foot (Bengal Fusiliers), late 34th (Cumberland ) Foot, comprising: Crimea, 1854-56, single clasp, Sebastopol (Serjt. J. Rielly. 34th Regt); Indian Mutiny, 1857-59, single clasp, Lucknow (Serjt, J, Reilly. 34th Regt); Army Long Service and Good Conduct, VR, swivel type suspension (3637. Col: Serjt J. Reilly, 104th Foot.); Turkish Crimea, 1855-56, Sardinian Issue (No 3382 Sergt J. Reilly. 34th Regt.), contemporary engraving in upright capitals, modified ribbon suspension with small plug below; Group loose, light contact marks from wear, good very fine (4). Sergeant John Reilly was born c.1835 near Kells, County Meath, Ireland, and enlisted for service with the 34th Foot on 24 March 1853 at Bristol, at the age of 18. He is confirmed on the nominal roll of the 34th Foot during the Crimean War (3382), and is confirmed on the Indian Mutiny Medal Roll as having served with the 34th Foot (roll states at the ‘Defence of Cawnpore’) and he is entitled to the ‘Lucknow’ clasp as above. He transferred to the 104th Foot on 1 March 1867, with whom he later received his L.S.G.C.
