A Crimean War and Indian Mutiny L.S.G.C. Group of 4 awarded to Private William Cox, 42 (Royal) Highlanders or Black Watch, comprising: Crimea, 1854-56, single clasp, Alma (3254. William. Cox. 42. Royal. Highland[ers]), depot impressed, final letters of regiment worn away; Indian Mutiny, 1857-59, single clasp, Lucknow (W. Cox, 42nd Rl Highlanders); Army Long Service and Good Conduct, VR, swivel type suspension (3254 William Cox 42nd Regiment); Turkish Crimea, 1855-56, Sardinian Issue (3254. William Cox. 42nd Royal Highlanders), contemporary engraving in upright capitals, weak in parts; Group loose, contact marks from wear, very fine (4). Private William Cox is confirmed on the nominal roll for the Royal Highlanders during the Crimean War, and appears to be entitled to the ‘Balaklava’ clasp. He is confirmed on the medal roll for the Indian Mutiny with entitlement to the ‘Lucknow’ clasp.
