Description

LUCANIA. Herakleia. Circa 281-278 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 21 mm, 7.52 g, 4 h). HPAKΛEIΩN Head of Athena to right, wearing Corinthian helmet adorned with Skylla hurling a stone on the bowl; behind her neck, E. Rev. Herakles standing facing, head to left, holding club in his right hand and bow and arrow in his left; lion skin draped over his left arm; to upper left, owl standing right; to left, APIΣ. HN Italy 1385. Van Keuren 87. Somewhat rough and struck from worn dies , otherwise, good very fine.
