★ A beautifully struck didrachm from Herakleia ★

LUCANIA. Herakleia. Circa 330/25-281 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 21 mm, 7.89 g, 6 h). [ՒHPAKΛHIΩN] Head of Athena to right, wearing Corinthian helmet adorned with Skylla hurling a stone; behind her neck, K. Rev. ՒHPAKΛHIΩN - AΘA Herakles standing facing, holding club in his right hand and bow and arrow in his left; lion skin draped over his left arm; to upper left, jug. HN Italy 1384. SNG ANS 75. Van Keuren 85. A beautifully struck and lightly toned coin. Good very fine.
