ANTIOCHOS VI DIONYSOS, king 145-142 BC. Tetradrachm, Antiochia on the Orontes, dated 143-142. AR 16.67 g. Head of Antiochos r., radiate and wearing royal diadem; around, stemma. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ / ANTIOXOY - EΠIΦANOYΣ / ΔIONYΣOY The Dioskuroi on horseback galloping l., wearing chlamys floating in the wind and piloi, each holding lance; in field r., TPY, monogram and ΣTA, below horses, date OP (year 170 of the Seleucid era); all within Dionysiac wreath composed of ears of corn, laurel, ivy leaves and lotus blossoms.
