Description

William IV gold Proof Sovereign 1831 PR65 Deep Cameo PCGS, KM717, S-3329B, W&R-261 (R3). A superior gem, superbly struck and with subsequent honey tone accenting the bold devices and legends. William's portrait, coated with frost, is of extremely rich color, light rub to the highest points but nothing to demote it from its lofty ‘deep cameo' designation. It is unusual to see high-grade gold from the so-called ‘Sailor King', rendering this Sovereign a conditional rarity and a piece sure to attract strong bidding from dedicated collectors of this ever-popular denomination.
