Pedro II gold 4000 Reis 1833/2-R AU50 PCGS, Rio de Janeiro mint, KM386.1, LMB-610, Guimaraes-1832-1a. Second type. Mintage: 257. A fleeting issue presented here with fairly lustrous and minimally circulated surfaces. Rendered with precision, both the obverse and reverse are bold, the former showing minimal highpoint wear while the latter remains very crisp. Semi-glossy fields are dressed in an attractive honeyed patina that does little to hinder the lustrous legends. Only the second appearance at auction in the last 20 years, this piece is the only survivor graded by PCGS, while RLM's AU55 is the sole graded by NGC. For advanced Brazilian type collectors, a must have to complete this two-year type. From the Petropolis Collection, Part III
