Description

Hesse-Cassel. Friedrich II Taler 1766-FU MS66 NGC, Cassel mint, KM485, Dav-2302, Schön-125, Hoffmeister-2327. An entrancing representative of this scintillating type, and one never encountered in this lofty state of preservation. Vast argent expanses display a paucity of distracting marks frame a decidedly crisp portrait and crowned arms, tinged by a satisfying reflectivity giving way to light cobalt silhouettes. Ranked at the very peak of both PCGS and NGC's conditional censuses, the next closest being an MS64, and likely to remain unrivaled for years to come. Ex. D. Moore Collection (Heritage Auction #3051, January 2017, Lot 32146) From the Cape Coral Collection of German Coins, Part I
