Brunswick-Lüneburg-Calenberg-Hannover. Georg II August "Mining" Taler 1752-IBH MS64+ NGC, Zellerfeld mint, KM295, Dav-2101, Schön-280 (under Hannover), Knyphausen-3256, Müseler-478, Welter-2567, Preussag Collection-307. Celebrating the yield of the Regenbogen ("Rainbow") mine. An utterly charming mining type that totally outstrips the competition, outranking the next finest at NGC by a full two "and a half" grade points on account of its added plus, among which are such prestigious pieces as the Hesselgesser specimen; even the Preussag example did not appear as fine. Containing a semi-glossy finish heighted by a subtle cabinet iridescence, all but the most inconsequential of wisps are excluded. We have handled just a single representative of the issue previously, an MS62, which brought $2220 in our April 2018 CICF sale (lot 30854), suggesting what is likely to be a record price in the present specimen. Ex. Johann Max Böttcher Collection (Harald Möller Auction 47, November 2007, Lot 201) From the Cape Coral Collection of German Coins, Part I
