Description

Bavaria. Ludwig I "Statue of Bishop Julius Echter" 2 Taler 1847 MS66 PCGS, Munich mint, KM823, Dav-596, AKS-110, Thun-87. Commemorating the erection of the statue to Prince Bishop Julius Echter von Mespelbrunn. Stunning to say the least, and an example that is seemingly worthy of the elusive and coveted Prooflike designation, boasting practically as-struck appearances and dripping in originality. Steely devices surround the frosted portrait of Ludwig I and statue of Echter, serving to project them towards the viewer upon illumination, adding a particular depth to the piece that generally lacks in lesser tiers of certification. The sole finest among examples submitted to the major grading services and deserving of a bid commensurate with that fact. From the Cape Coral Collection of German Coins, Part I
