Bavaria. Ludwig I "Completion of the Canal" 2 Taler 1846 MS66 Prooflike NGC, Munich mint, KM822, Dav-595, AKS-109, Thun-86. Commemorating the completion of the Ludwigscanal between the Danube and Main Rivers. A mesmerizingly Prooflike striking of this popular commemorative Double Taler from all angles, even a slight tilt under good light revealing an even gleam of mirrorlike reflectivity. Long-term careful storage has resulted in an iridescent chroma along the raised features, capturing notes of apricot, lapis lazuli, neon, and caramel. Both the sole finest in either standard Mint State or with a Prooflike designation across NGC and PCGS, the next finest being an MS65, while the only other in PL at NGC falls a full 4 points lower at MS62 PL.
