Description

Bavaria. Maximilian III Joseph Taler 1771-A MS65 NGC, Amberg mint, KM519.2, Dav-1954, Schön-99, Hahn-330. An iconic and long-lived Bavarian issue which inspires considerable competition not only when found numerically this fine (none higher at NGC), but with such a general paucity of flan adjustments in the usual places. Indeed, one practically has to strain to find the few adjustment marks on the piece. Further colored by an intensive golden backlight, making it a delight to behold. Ex. Köhlmoos Collection (Münzen & Medaillen AG Basel Auction 91, March 2001, Lot 70) From the Cape Coral Collection of German Coins, Part I
