Description

Macedonia - Alexander III (the Great) - AR Tetradrachm. 323-300 B.C. Early posthumous issue, struck under Seleukos I Nikator, Marathos mint. Obv: head of Herakles right, wearing lionskin headdress. Rev: BASILEWS ALEXANDROY beneath and to right of Zeus seated left, legs parallel, holding eagle and sceptre; anchor and ER monogram in left field, K beneath chair. Price 3439; Mueller 1498. 17.19 grams. Property of a Cambridgeshire gentleman. [No Reserve]
