Anglo-Saxon Gilt Radiate Brooch. 6th century A.D. A gilt radiate brooch with semi-circular headplate decorated with three triangular lugs to the perimeter, an arc of raised zigzags contained by a border, D-section bow and a cluster of chip-carved basketwork-style striations to the remains of the foot; remains of pin lug and catchplate to reverse. 2.21 grams, 25 mm (1 in.) Found whilst searching with a metal detector, Isle of Wight, UK, on 17 June 2017. Recorded by Isle of Wight Portable Antiquities Scheme Liaison Officer with reference numbers SZ 40045 and BNG 86913. Accompanied by a copy of Portable Antiquities Scheme report no.IOW-B3C471. The PAS report states that this brooch 'is a find of note and has been designated: County / local importance'. [No Reserve]
