A group of bronze socketted and tanged arrowheads comprising twenty-three tanged examples with a trilobate cross-section and very short or no socket; six socketted foliate heads, one tanged trilobate head with long shaft. Ex private collection, 1980s. Acquired on the UK art market in the 1990s. Most of the three-winged tulle arrowheads found in Olympia have been classified by Baitinger of Persian origin. They were probably diffused in the Greek world after the Persian Wars. They have been found in great quantity at the Thermopylae, place of the famous battle between the Greeks of Leonidas and the Persians of Xerxes. [30, No Reserve]
