Greek Gold Herakles Knot Earrings. 5th-3rd century B.C. A matched pair of gold earrings, each composed of a tapering penannular hoop, one half of the body formed as a ribbed tube, the other with twisted wire, an openwork Hercules Knot formed where the two meet. 1.9 grams total, 21-22 mm (3/4 in.) Acquired 1970-2010. Collection of a late Japanese gentleman. [2]
