Greek Gold Earrings with Eros. 4th-1st century B.C. A matched pair of gold earrings with the standing figure of god of love, Eros (Roman Cupid), naked and with small wings, quiver belt across the body, hands on hips, applied rosette above the head, wire hoop to the back. Cf. The Metropolitan Museum, accession number 74.51.3506, for similar dated 3rd-2nd century B.C. 4.60 grams total, 23 mm each (7/8 in.) Private collection Dorset, UK, 1990s. Property of a Sussex, UK, teacher. [2]
