Description
UMAYYAD OF SPAIN: al-Hakam II, 961-976, AE "dirham" (2.22g), Madinat al-Zahra, AH358, A-352B, struck from somewhat crudely engraved dies, with the name of 'Amir, lovely strike, squarish flan, XF, RR. This type of copper or billon "dirhams" are likely the earliest issues of the handus, produced in Spain for nearly 200 years to serve as fractional denominations.
