Description

SAFAVID: Safi I, 1629-1642, LOT of 20 AR bistis, type A-2640E, silver bisti, weight standard 0.77g (equal to 1/10 abbasi = 20 dinars); most with a mint name, usually Isfahan, but one clearly from Tabriz, probably none with legible date; mostly VF condition, just a few pierced or with other damage; retail value $500, lot of 20 pieces. The tiny bisti denomination was unknown for Safi I until about 20 years ago, but the recent large hoards average about 10-15% Safi I, the rest 'Abbas I. Issues of Safi I are still rare.

Estimate: USD 200 - 250
