SAFAVID: 'Abbas I, 1588-1629, LOT of 75 AR bistis, type A-B2637, silver bisti, weight standard 0.77g (equal to 1/10 abbasi, = 20 dinars); mostly without mint name, but several of Isfahan and 1 or 2 each of Urdu, Rasht, Tabriz, Iravan, and Farrukhabad, almost none with legible date; most Fine condition, many VF, but most with weakness, off-center strike, pierced, etc.; retail value $1000, lot of 75 pieces. The tiny bisti denomination was virtually unknown until about 20 years ago, and large hoards of bistis have become available in recent years.
