Description

"1690" (early 20th century) Quebec Preserved Medal. Betts-69. Bronze. Unc Details--Cleaned (PCGS).
41.3 mm. 542.3 grains. Edge marked (cornucopia) BRONZE, designating this as an early 20th century production of the Paris Mint. Milk chocolate and golden brown with subtle reflectivity on both sides. Sharp and appealing despite subtle hairlines on both sides and a nick off the tip of Louis' nose. The Paris Mint mark is at 12 o'clock, offset from its usual location at 6 o'clock. A fine example of this historically important type.
From the Joe Foster Collection. Earlier from our Americana sale of January 2012, part of lot 6006.

Estimate: $1200
