"1690" (early 20th century) Quebec Preserved Medal. Betts-69. Bronze. MS-62 BN (PCGS).
41.2 mm. 535.9 grains. Edge marked (cornucopia) BRONZE, designating this as an early 20th century Paris Mint product. Abundant mint color frames the peripheries on both sides. Lustrous and appealing, some little marks seen in the fields on both sides, spots above the letters R in REX and at CH in CHRISTIANISSIMUS are not particularly important. An attractive example. As anti-intuitive as it may seem, 20th century examples of this Betts number and those adjacent are actually quite elusive.
From the Joe Foster Collection. Earlier ex John Kraljevich, August 2017.
