LEBANON. Banque de Syrie et du Liban. 25 Livres, 1.9.1939. P-29b. PCLB 59c. PMG Choice Fine 15.
Orange overprint type C. A deceptively difficult type from Lebanon dated the same day as the start of World War II, although in reality it wasn't issued until a few years later. This particular variety wouldn't enter circulation until January 1944, and had 200,000 notes printed in total. Printed by Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co. in England. Problem-free, and despite having spent considerable time in circulation, fully intact and problem free with good color. A type that is offered at public auction quite infrequently at best, making this an important opportunity for the Middle Eastern specialist.
