1787 Connecticut Copper. Miller 31.1-r.4, W-3200. Rarity-2. Draped Bust Left. EF Details--Tooled (PCGS).
126.7 grains. Double struck on the obverse, the reverse simply flattened by what was probably another blank planchet in the press. The primary strike seems to have been well-centered on the obverse, and shifted a bit to the left on the reverse. The secondary strike was off-center about 50% and largely flattened about the same percentage of the reverse design toward the lower left. A single natural fissure near the second C of CONNEC of the first strike. Medium brown but there are some small patches of oxidation roughness toward the peripheries of both sides, and one has a bit of light tooling to remove some of the encrusted oxides.
PCGS# 685383.
