Description

Excessively Rare Napoléon Pattern in Copper
FRANCE. Consulate. Copper 5 Francs Essai (Pattern), Year XII (1803/4). Paris Mint. Napoléon as "the Great". PCGS SPECIMEN-63 Brown.
Maz-604 var. (silver); Gad-565b (2021) var. (same); T&T-1507.2 (this coin cited). Finely filed plain edge. By N.-G. Brenet & M. Dupeyrat. Weight: 21.36 gms. A stunning RARITY that is seemingly without comparison in copper, this pattern issue stands as the only such representative of the type cited in T&T, with the image used for the type merely being a color altered version of the preceding silver specimen. A tremendous opportunity for a dazzlingly Choice specimen that may well be UNIQUE.
From the Richard Margolis Collection (acquired from Münzen und Medaillen on 7 November 1961). Ex: Collection R.K. (Raoul Kraft) (Münzen und Medaillen - 11/1961) lot # 199. Purportedly Ex: Wayte Raymond (3/1942) Lot # 137.

Estimate: $5000.00- $10000.00
