1870 United States Assay Commission Medal. JK AC-8. Rarity-3. Copper, Bronzed. Specimen-64 BN (PCGS).
33.5 mm. A curving die chip is seen to right of the top loop of the digit 8 in the date. Deep glossy brown patina. The 1870 JK AC-8 is the most available of all 19th century Assay Commission medals with the vast majority of survivors in copper, as here.
