CHINA. Chun Ah-You/The Chinese Collection Now Exhibiting in Liverpool White Metal Medal, ND (1843). NGC MS-62.
BHM-2107. By T. Halliday. Diameter: 45mm. Obverse: Capped and robed bust facing slightly right; Reverse: Legend in 13 lines. Tied with just one other for the top spot in the NGC census, this flashy and exceptionally brilliant example presents a high relief portrait and remains remarkably problem-free--a real feat for this composition, and VERY RARE as such. Of note, the visage on the obverse pertains to Chun Ah-You, a Chinese youth who came to London to help promote the Chinese collection formed by American Nathan Dunn, a merchant in the Chinese trading sector.
