VENEZUELA. Lot of (2). Banco Comercial. 500 Bolivares, ND (ca. 1883). P-S169p. Front & Back Proofs. PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ & Superb Gem Uncirculated 67 EPQ.
Matched pair of front and back proofs for the second highest denomination for the Banco Comercial. Contemporary print records reveal that just 1,000 notes of this denomination were printed for circulation, which were delivered to the bank in June of 1886. To the specialist we must mention that the proofs in the Rosenman collection were of a different color and were also nowhere as nice as the pair offered in this lot. We are not sure whether this was the issued color or if the reddish-pink color seen on the Rosenman pair was the color issued. An important pair and certainly worth additional research.
