BRAZIL. Lot of (2). Banco do Brazil. 25 Mil Reis, ND (1856). P-S251p1 & S251p2. Front & Back Proofs. PMG About Uncirculated 55 & Choice Uncirculated 63 EPQ.
Series C. The third Banco de Brasil was created on 31rd of August, 1853. Its first issue of notes was printed by the American Bank Note Company. Here is a pair of front and back proofs for the initial denomination of this series. Very scarce in any format, with a lovely design. The back proof may have been issued in different colors as we are also aware of a version in orange. The Front Proof is graded AU 55 with comments of "Design Cut-Outs, with Specimen overprint" and the back proof is graded Choice UNC 63 EPQ. The front proof is Pop 1/1 Finer at PMG, and the back proof is the only example on the population report.
