Description

1794 Liberty Cap Half Cent. C-1a. Rarity-3. Low Relief Head, Large Edge Letters. EF Details--Corrosion (NGC).

Dark brown surfaces are somewhat rough with a fine granular texture from the corrosion noted by NGC. The details though are quite bold and strong with only light wear perceptible on the highest points, suggesting this coin circulated only a brief time before being placed in a moist environment which caused the corrosion. A light graze on the obverse is noted for full disclosure. A very popular and desirable half cent from the earliest days of the U.S. Mint at Philadelphia, only the second year of operations and the first year of this type.

PCGS# 35015. NGC ID: 2223.

Estimate: $1750
