Description

1793 Liberty Cap Half Cent. Head Left. C-4. Rarity-3. VG Details--Scratches (NGC).

While some 1,500 half dismes and patterns were struck under the auspices of the fledgling United States Mint in 1792, it was not until 1793 that the first half cents and large cents were struck for circulation. This is a generally pleasing example that saw extensive circulation. Some old scratches are noted, primarily at the lower obverse, thus the NGC qualifier, but the details are bold for the assigned grade. The scratches are mostly toned over and blend in somewhat.

PCGS# 1000. NGC ID: 2222.

Estimate: $2250
