1793 Liberty Cap Half Cent. Head Left. C-3. Rarity-3. Fine Details--Corrosion (NGC).
An important early federal copper, the 1793 half cent was among the first coins struck at the fledgling Philadelphia Mint. Its design, with Liberty's head facing left is a one year only type, so any advanced type set, as well as date set of half cents requires an example. The majority of the original mintage of only 35,334 went into circulation, where they would remain for many years. This example shows some surface corrosion but boldly defined details for the assigned grade. An affordable example that will do more than just fill a hole for many collectors.
