Description

1875-S Liberty Head Double Eagle. MS-62 (PCGS).

Beautifully struck with bold mint luster. The San Francisco Mint turned out 1,230,000 double eagles in 1875. Some of the mintage was sent overseas and later many lower range Mint State examples of the date were returned to the United States. Perhaps 1,000 to 1,500 Uncirculated examples exist, most of which grade no finer than MS-61. A notable exception, this premium quality Uncirculated example is sure to appeal to discerning gold enthusiasts.
