At least 70% of the original autumn-orange mint color remains to surfaces that also show light mellowing to pale olive-brown. Traces of an ancient finger mark at the upper obverse border are noted, a dull nick in the lower right obverse field also useful for provenance purposes. Grellman Die State a, late. In September 2009, Bob Grellman described this coin as "MS64 and tied for CC#11 in the Noyes census...Our grade is MS65, tied for CC#3 in the Grellman census." This lot includes PCGS insert #90031458 with a grade of MS-64 RB from an earlier certification of this coin.
