Description

1786 New Jersey Copper. Maris 26-S, W-4995. Rarity-5. Straight Plow Beam, Blundered 6. VF-20 (PCGS).
134.0 grains. Even light brown with good gloss and in-hand visual appeal, despite a significant array of marks and some areas of minor roughness. Well centered and offering good detail for the grade. Most of the sharper examples of this variety have problems of one sort or other. The seven-coin SHI census includes an EF, an EF-, a VF+, and four more VFs. The Syd Martin coin, ex Griffee, was a tooled VF, and the 2019 EPU coin was a very sharp grounder. This is only the second straight-graded certified example of this variety we've ever sold.
PCGS# 767887.
From the E Pluribus Unum Collection.

Estimate: $1500
