NJ-179. New Jersey. March 25, 1776. 12 Shillings. PCGS Banknote Superb Gem Uncirculated 68 PPQ.
No. 32799. Plate B. Signed by R. Smith, J. Hart and J. Stevens, Jr. Printed by Isaac Collins, Burlington, New Jersey, 1776. Even though more than half a dozen 12 Shilling notes from the New Jersey issue of March 25, 1776 have merited the 67 PPQ/EPQ grade, only one has achieved a grade of 68 PPQ, this being that note. In addition to being the finest-graded to date from both major services, it bears the signature of John Hart, a signer of the Declaration, making this particular note considerably more desirable than simply its grade would indicate. The physical attributes of this note fully confirm its lofty grade as it features incredibly wide, jumbo borders with nearly perfect balance in both directions, rich red print, razor sharp ink signatures, ideal embossing and splendid paper quality. Truly one of the top Colonial notes available and certain to draw the interest of discriminating collectors. A real showpiece! PCGS Banknote Pop 1/None Finer.
