CC-101. Continental Currency. January 14, 1779. $70. PCGS Currency Gem New 66 PPQ.
No. 69596. Signed by D. Wister and R. Caither. Printed by Hall and Sellers, 1779. As inflation ravaged the value of the Continental Currency, ever higher denominations were authorized and printed. This $70 denomination is found only on the 11 th and last issue, and features an emblem depicting a solitary tree with a diamond-shaped red overlay. In keeping with its gem grade, everything from margins to centering, from paper to print quality and color, and from signatures to overall eye appeal, leave little to be desired. All are at, or near the top of what is seen on Continentals.
From the Mid-Continent Collection.
