Description

CC-25. Continental Currency. February 17, 1776. $3. PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ.
No. 56809. Signed by W. Coats and J. Williams. Printed in Philadelphia by Hall and Sellers, 1776. The emblem depicts an eagle and heron fighting beneath the motto "EXITUS IN DUBIO EST." (The outcome is in doubt). Four full and reasonably well-balanced margins and the first of three lots bearing the serial number "56809". As sheets contained mixed denominations, it's clear these three notes all came from the same sheet. The sheet was obviously quite well printed and preserved as these notes share extraordinarily sharp and clear printing, bold and very clear signatures, outstanding bright paper and carefully trimmed margins. Easily the finest trio from the February 17, 1776 resolution extant. PMG Pop 2/1 Finer.
From the Mid-Continent Collection.

Estimate: $4000.00- $6000.00
