GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Wolfenbuttel. 1/2 "Death" Taler, 1589. Wolfenbuttel Mint. Julius. PCGS Genuine--Scratch, EF Details.
KM (MB)-246; Welter-589. A posthumous issue commemorating the death of the Duke, this toned specimen retains a charming overall look, with the noted scratch running across the midsection of the wildman. Adding a bit more of a memento mori flair is the presence of a skull atop the square plaque held by the aforementioned wildman.
