76 mm x 40 mm. The hanging part of the medal depicts a female figure watching as an early biplane flies over. This is suspended by a somewhat tattered but functional red, white and blue silk flag ribbon from a pin-back brass hanger inscribed J.C. MARS. Mars enjoyed the distinction of holding the eleventh pilot's license issued in the United States. The reverse of the badge is inscribed with the maker's name ENTENMANN JEWELRY CO. L.A. CAL.
