SWEDEN. Olof I Björnsson Silver Medal, ND (1745-60). PCGS SPECIMEN-67.
Hildebrand II, p. 548, 3. Regents of Sweden series. By C. G. Fehrman. Diameter: 34mm. Obverse: Crowned and armored bust right; Reverse: Legend in four lines. Rather shimmering and glistening, this example offers some delightful olive-champagne hues accentuating the devices. Swiss-born Johann Carl Hedlinger (1691-1771) was trained in Paris and later became the court medalist in Stockholm, where he produced numerous historical medals on commission. His portraits are often viewed as some of the most elegant and well-known, and he contributed greatly to his series of "Regentlängd," or "regent lengths,"--a series that provided portraits and brief biographies of the Swedish monarchs from Björn på Håga through Fredrik I.
