Although nearly ten Plain Back $10s from the Western Montana National Bank of Missoula, MT are known, there is only one Brown Back accounted for. We present it here and can say that one should not be misled by the relatively low PMG grade of Fine 15. Other than some tan toning of the paper, this is really quite a nice note. For openers, it is almost perfectly centered with four clear and balanced borders. The brown overprint remains strong and retains good color. The pen signatures are sharp and legible. We have seen far worse notes in this grade and few better. If you are a collector of Montana notes, do not make the mistake of passing this one up. It is the only Brown Back $10 available and for a Fine 15, will be a pleasant surprise.
