MACEDON. Kingdom of Macedon. Philip II, 359-336 B.C. AR Tetradrachm (14.45 gms), Pella Mint, ca. 354/3-349/8 B.C. NGC Ch VF, Strike: 4/5 Surface: 5/5. Fine Style.

SNG ANS-356. Obverse: Laureate head of Zeus right; Reverse: Philip, raising hand and holding reins, on horse trotting left; below raised foreleg, facing radiate head of Helios; [in exergue, spearhead left]. An attractive Tetradrachm from the lifetime of Philip II, the father of Alexander 'the Great,' this piece is boldly impressed on a flan of good metal, with some deep cabinet toning noted.
