CARIA. Knidos. AR Drachm (6.21 gms), ca. 465-449 B.C. NGC Ch EF, Strike: 3/5 Surface: 5/5. Fine Style.
SNG Cop-240-1; cf. SNG Keckman-133. Obverse: Head of roaring lion right; Reverse: Diademed head of Aphrodite right; all within incuse square. Struck ever so slightly off-center on the obverse, this alluringly toned specimen features a great cabinet nature and some shimmering hints of iridescence around the head of Aphrodite, which itself presents tremendous detail and a bold strike.
